About CADRI
The Canadian Association of Direct Relationship Insurers (CADRI) represents insurance companies that offer automobile, home and commercial insurance products directly to Canadians.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support and represent the common interests of our members to ensure an innovative, dynamic and competitive marketplace, one where consumers have the right to compare products and choose those that best meet their needs.


Our Activities

In support of our mission, objectives and member priorities, we engage in a range of activities:


Promotion

CADRI builds awareness and understanding among key stakeholders of the specific benefits of consumer relationships through direct channels.

Advocacy

CADRI offers insights, analysis and solutions regarding the common needs and positions of our members to policymakers at all levels. We believe in contributing to the development of effective public policies that foster a sound, successful insurance industry that benefits Canadians.

Research

CADRI undertakes research to support our advocacy objectives, build insights on issues that impact our members, and establish benchmarks on the direct relationship insurance industry in Canada.

Communication

CADRI develops outreach programs with key public audiences to promote, educate and communicate about direct relationship industry and objectives of the Association.

Consumer Principles

We believe that Canadians are best served by a healthy and competitive insurance market with a regulatory framework that focuses on ensuring positive consumer outcomes and allows for appropriate recognition of risk factors. Consumer protection rules should result in the following outcomes:

  • Consumers can make informed decisions on the features of the product that meet their important needs.
  • Consumers can access affordable products in a competitive market.
  • Appropriate information and advice is available from regulated insurers or licensed representatives.
    Information and advice can be accessed online, in person or over the phone.
  • Individual privacy is protected.
  • All communication is clear and transparent.
